What a difference it makes when all that stuff you think you need is no longer here.  Amanda was so pleased with you describe and in her words, “living organized” is the best way to living happy within your household or business. Thanking you again,

As promised we are going to re-visit Step # 6 – The After Christmas Re-packing of décor.

1.  Unpack all the décor that you packed away when you were decorating for the holidays. If some of the items you packed are questionable keepers, now is a good time to deal with them.

Create three piles:

  • Toss
  • Keep
  • Give Away

2.  Toss all those items that are no longer in good condition. If it is garbage treat it as such. Recycle where possible.

3.  Repack all those items you are keeping along with any new purchases.

4.  Give Away all those items that you are no longer wanting that are in good shape. These can include gifts that you received that are just not your taste.

According to new research from eBay Canada, One in three Canadians may have unwrapped unwanted gifts that were either thoughtless or impersonal this holiday season, but some may be hesitant to re-gift the item for fear of getting caught. My suggestion: just avoid the re-gifting.

Now of course there are those Sentimental items.

Some of you will have things that you are not using, but just cannot part with and perhaps you want to pass onto your children or grand children. Safely pack these items into a bin and label it with the child’s name. Over the years, you can keep adding to the bin.  Tip - it does not need to be limited to Christmas items!

Give the rest away or donate to a local charity.

I love the idea of having a bin for sentimental items. What do you suggest for making sure old fabric and paper are preserved? We keep a box in our walk-in closet, but I know things like my old photos and my Dad's old Scout uniform should probably be stored better than they are.
