When we merged 2 households almost 12 years ago, like most I packed everything into the moving truck and away we went. It was May long weekend. The weather was gorgeous. My husband convinced me that I should forget the stuff; it would be there later. And it was - a year later. I suffered that year andthen organized a neighbourhood garage sale and made a lot of money.

Everything must be priced - Use old labels, masking tape, sheets of paper. Price items based on what they are worth as second-hand items. If your items are collectibles seek out experts who can sell them on your behalf (see who we refer to on our recommended page)

Good email management means setting a consistent time that does not interfere with the most productive time of your day.

We have all the new bills, receipts and money we are making rolling into our homes and offices but the last year's or for some the past year's taxes have not rolled out. The dreaded tax man is knocking at your door and the deadlines are set, so let's just get them done.

Follow these 7 Steps to get past taxes out of your office.

Home Staging, is the art of decorating a home to sell quickly and for top dollar.

So, let’s transform your home in order to attract as many potential buyers as possible.

 Number One Rule: "De-Clutter"

• Collect all those items that are truly garbage and toss them. Call a junk removal company if necessary
• Donate to a local charity all those items that are clean and in good repair
• Garage sale - Clear out the garage too if you want people to think your home has enough space for all their stuff. Think about this as you go through your entire home. Maximize your space.
• Pare down cupboards, vanities, closets, storage areas to show maximum space.
• Pack items not currently being used and remove them from your home.
• Rent a storage unit or call a company that delivers portable storage units.

Whether you hire someone to prepare your taxes or attempt to complete them yourself, your papers must be in order.

And organizing your tax related documents is not just some hap-hazard thing you do the evening of April 29^th.  Good tax organization is a year-round process.

Everyone is always looking for a fresh start in the New Year.

As promised we are going to re-visit Step # 6 – The After Christmas Re-packing of décor.  

1.  Unpack all the décor that you packed away when you were decorating for the holidays. If some of the items you packed are questionable keepers, now is a good time to deal with them.

1. Date and Time – choose ones that don’t conflict with holidays or any other major events in your area. Piggy back on church sales, bazaars, street sales.

2. What to Sell – Make sure to all clean the items. If it’s broken or unusable, toss it. You can sell anything from clothes and toys to cars and boats. Provided they are in good working condition. I sold my husband’s boat and wasn’t even trying.

3.  Set Up – place larger items near the end of the driveway or on the lawn, to attract buyers as they drive by. Line all other items along your driveway. Have lots of newsprint and shopping bags for packing.

And for some buyers it’s when they drive up and see the curb appeal…or the lack there of.
